It's a crazy small world we live in
I came into the whole webdesigning world a bit late in the game. It started with me taking over the website of a company I worked for about 10 years ago. I soon realized I really love making websites, and am now doing it for a career.
But having started in the middle of it all, not learning how to code a site from the very beginning, I find it much easier to use open source (I use Drupal) and to customize already built themes. Being just one person, it would take me forever to build each of my client's sites from the ground up. Plus, truthfully, coding bores me and I just want to dive in to start building the site.
Well, yesterday, as I was putting finishing touches to a client's site, I realized I have been using a theme built by one of my SourceN co-workers - in India! I had always admired Navdeep's work on www.dezinerfolio.com, and so when we started working together I was thrilled to be working with him. But then when I noticed yesterday that the theme I've been using for a client was built by Navdeep, it made me realize what a small world we live in.
Now, I realize this probably happens all the time within the developer community. But again, being relatively new to it, that was my first "small world, hey-I-know-you" encounter, so it made me smile.

Taking Password Security Seriously
One thing I've preached (some would say nagged) to my clients is their password security. Sure, when I started on the internet, I used the same password over and over. Then I read that that was a very unsafe practice. So then I used about 3 passwords in various forms. Still not good enough. Now I make my passwords so convoluted, there is no way I can remember them.
On the Red Tape Chronicles today is a story on that very subject.

If You Did Something, Let 'em Know
The more you do, the more you forget what you've done. Or so it seems for me. In a week's time, I can start development on a client's website, design another client's print ad and voice a TV commercial for a production company in El Paso. Seems like a normal week for me.

A whack upside the head
I was asked by a local college student some questions about being a freelancer. One of the questions was how I ignore distractions. My answer was: who says I ignore distractions? Then I went on about how I stay on task, etc... But, really, when you work from home, you can't ignore all distractions.
